Urgench – Bukhara train
Urgench → Bukhara · 420 km
From Urgench the fast trains from Khiva call in the morning and late morning, and two passenger trains leave in the afternoon and evening for Bukhara and beyond. It is a useful fallback when Khiva departures are full, and the evening sleeper is one of the few options for travellers who want a full last day in Khorezm.
Urgench station is in the centre of the regional capital, about 30 km and 40 minutes by taxi from Khiva. Bukhara station is in Kagan, about 15 km from the old city.
Tickets are sold on the official Uzbekistan Railways site, eticket.railway.uz, and in its UzRailways Tickets app, as well as at station ticket offices. Every ticket is issued to a named passenger, so you need the passport number when you buy and the passport itself when you board. Sales usually open about 45 days ahead, and the popular departures sell out well before that window closes in spring and autumn.

- — Leave Khiva 50–60 minutes before an Urgench departure to allow for traffic and the station check.
- — The 126Ч starts in Urgench, so seats are released here first and the coupe compartments are often available.
- — If you arrive in Bukhara after midnight, book the hotel transfer from Kagan station in advance.
- — Fast-train seats are shared with Khiva passengers; buy them as soon as sales open.
