Bukhara – Tashkent train
Bukhara → Tashkent · 600 km
From Bukhara the high-speed trains run back to the capital at both ends of the day: a 03:34 Afrosiyob for early flights, and three or four afternoon departures that reach Tashkent in the evening. The Sharq trains leave at dawn and late afternoon, and two overnight sleepers arrive in Tashkent at breakfast time.
Trains leave from Bukhara station in Kagan, about 15 km from the old city (25–30 minutes by taxi). Afrosiyob and Sharq trains arrive at Tashkent North (Tashkent Central); the overnight sleepers arrive at Tashkent South.
Tickets are sold on the official Uzbekistan Railways site, eticket.railway.uz, and in its UzRailways Tickets app, as well as at station ticket offices. Every ticket is issued to a named passenger, so you need the passport number when you buy and the passport itself when you board. Sales usually open about 45 days ahead, and the popular departures sell out well before that window closes in spring and autumn.

Good to know
- — The afternoon Afrosiyob trains leave time for a full morning in the old city; check out of the hotel by noon and leave luggage at reception.
- — Allow 40 minutes from Lyabi-Hauz to the platform: the taxi ride to Kagan plus the security check.
- — If you fly out of Tashkent early in the morning, the 03:34 Afrosiyob is the only realistic rail option; ask your hotel to book a car for about 02:45.
- — The Sharq train costs about half the Afrosiyob fare; on a tight budget it is a comfortable seated day train.
- — The return Afrosiyob trains stop in Samarkand, so you can also break the journey there.
