Kokand – Tashkent train
Kokand → Tashkent · 230 km
From Kokand to Tashkent the fast trains run early in the morning and in the late afternoon, and two passenger trains from Andijan follow in the evening. Trains to the Fergana Valley climb over the Kamchik Pass through a long tunnel opened in 2016, the only rail link to the valley that stays inside Uzbekistan.
Fast and day trains use Tashkent North (Tashkent Central). Margilan station is the rail stop for Fergana city, about 15 km and 20 minutes by taxi away.
Tickets are sold on the official Uzbekistan Railways site, eticket.railway.uz, and in its UzRailways Tickets app, as well as at station ticket offices. Every ticket is issued to a named passenger, so you need the passport number when you buy and the passport itself when you board. Sales usually open about 45 days ahead, and the popular departures sell out well before that window closes in spring and autumn.

Good to know
- — If you are driving the valley loop, drop the car in Kokand and take the train back to Tashkent to save the long return drive.
- — The 16:48 fast train reaches Tashkent before 20:00, early enough for dinner in the capital.
- — The evening passenger trains can be boarded with a through ticket to Samarkand or Bukhara, a way to go straight from the valley to the Silk Road cities.
- — Seats on the fast trains are limited; book a few days ahead even outside the main season.
