Tashkent – Termez train
Tashkent → Termez · 850 km
Termez, on the Amu Darya at the Afghan border, holds some of the oldest Buddhist and early Islamic monuments in Central Asia, and is an important stop for pilgrims to the shrine of al-Hakim at-Termezi. The railway reaches it only by overnight train: the daily 080 leaves Tashkent South in the evening and arrives in Termez late the next morning after about fourteen hours, and a through train from Andijan follows later on five nights a week.

Tickets are sold on the official Uzbekistan Railways site, eticket.railway.uz, and in its UzRailways Tickets app, as well as at station ticket offices. Every ticket is issued to a named passenger, so you need the passport number when you buy and the passport itself when you board. Sales usually open about 45 days ahead, and the popular departures sell out well before that window closes in spring and autumn.

- — A domestic flight takes about 1.5 hours; the train is a good choice if you want to save a hotel night.
- — Book a coupe or SV compartment: the 080 has all three classes and SV sells out first.
- — Termez lies in a border zone; carry your passport at all times, including on the train.
- — Summer in Termez is the hottest in Uzbekistan; travel from October to April for comfortable sightseeing.
