The Uzbekistan children remember: a treasure hunt on the Registan, paper made by hand, camels and a night in a yurt, a puppet workshop in Bukhara. History for the grown-ups, adventure for the kids. 9 days at a family pace.
This journey is built around what keeps children curious: things to make, animals to meet and short, story-led visits to the great monuments. In Tashkent you hop between metro stations decorated like palaces, then take the high-speed train to Samarkand, where your guide turns the Registan into a treasure hunt and a village mill shows how paper is made from mulberry bark.
From Samarkand you drive into the Kyzylkum to a yurt camp near Lake Aydarkul: a short camel ride, a sunset over the water, dinner by the fire and a night under the stars in a felt tent. On the way to Bukhara you feed the sacred fish at the Nurata spring and try the potter's wheel in Gijduvan. Bukhara brings a puppet workshop, a peacock-filled summer palace and a plov cooking lesson.
The pace allows for families: sightseeing mostly in the morning, a pause for lunch and a rest at the hotel in the afternoon, no day with more than about five hours on the road, always broken up with stops, and a private car with your own driver throughout. Hotels offer family rooms or connecting rooms, and a TourEast manager is on a local number day and night.
