Across the whole country, from the avant-garde of the Savitsky Museum in Nukus to the Registan. The fortresses of Khorezm, Khiva, Bukhara, a night in a yurt by Lake Aydarkul and stars over the Kyzylkum. For travellers who want all of Uzbekistan, not the postcard.
This is Uzbekistan beyond the postcards. After a day in Tashkent you fly west to Nukus and its famous Savitsky collection, then cross the desert past the fortresses of ancient Khorezm to Khiva. Three nights in Bukhara give you time to settle into the old city, before the road leads into the Kyzylkum: pottery in Gijduvan, the holy spring of Nurata, a night in a yurt camp and a morning on Lake Aydarkul. The journey ends in Samarkand, before the fast train back to Tashkent.
On the way to the desert we stop in Afshona, the village where the great physician Ibn Sino (Avicenna) was born, a place close to our hearts in Bukhara.
Groups are small, sixteen travellers at most, and every departure is guaranteed even for one person. Local guides lead each city, and from eight travellers a TourEast tour leader travels with you.
